When I was working on my homepage recently, I stumbled into a few tricks that look super advanced but are actually pretty simple to pull off. The best part? You don’t need to know a single line of code.
If you’re building your site in Showit (and maybe connecting it with Shopify), here are three quick tips you can add today to make your website look way more polished.
1. The Hover Effect That Makes Your Site Feel Custom
You’ve probably seen this on other websites: you hover over a product or preview image, and suddenly the image changes, fades, or reveals something underneath.
That’s the hover effect. It looks complicated, but in Showit it’s literally just:
- Selecting your top image.
- Clicking Hover → Custom.
- Changing the opacity to 0 (so it disappears when someone hovers).
That’s it. Now you can put anything underneath that image: another screenshot, a GIF, even a short scrolling video preview of your template. Suddenly, you’ve got an interactive feature that feels high-end.
2. Embedding a Shopify Buy Button (Without Messy Code)
If you’re selling products but want to keep the clean, flexible Showit design, Shopify’s Buy Button is your friend. You don’t have to build an entire Shopify storefront, you can just embed a single product or a “View Details” button.
Here’s how I set it up:
- In Shopify, generate a Buy Button for the product you want to feature.
- Choose your layout (classic, full view, or simple add-to-cart).
- Copy the code Shopify gives you.
- In Showit, add an Embed Code element and paste it in.
Now you’ve got seamless e-commerce built right into your Showit site without losing creative control.
3. Turning Static Images Into Dynamic Previews
Static screenshots are fine, but what if you could let people “see” your products in action?
Here’s the trick:
- Take screenshots or pictures of your products.
- String them together in Canva or your editor of choice, setting them to play quickly (about 1 second each).
- Export as a short GIF.
- Upload that GIF into Showit and layer it under your hover image.
Now, when someone hovers over your product card, instead of just another static image, they get a dynamic preview of the site or template. It feels almost like a live demo.
Why These Little Tricks Matter
None of these features are huge on their own, but together they create a premium, interactive feel for your website. They help you:
- Showcase your products more effectively.
- Build trust by letting people “preview” before they buy.
- Stand out from all the cookie-cutter sites out there.
And the best part is, once you do it once, it’s repeatable. You can copy and paste these elements into future pages, saving yourself time.
